FetchXL is taking the paper
out of financial analysis by retrieving financial data from over
13,000 companies directly into your Microsoft®
Excel® spreadsheets. With FetchXL,
the days of copying and pasting data into spreadsheets are officially
over. You can now let your spreadsheet do the work, locating and
returning with the exact data you request.
FetchXL is a true extension of Excel that can
be used just like any of the native functions in Excel (i.e. IRR,
PMT, SUM, SUMIF, etc.). You can build and modify the FetchXL function
manually or by using the always intuitive FetchXL Formula Builder.
All of the functionality in Excel can be applied to FetchXL data,
including macros, conditional formatting and scenarios.
Using the FetchXL Formula Builder is as
easy as 1-2-3. To retrieve data directly into Excel,
simply do the following in the FetchXL Formula Builder:
 |
Select the data point (ex. Change in Receivables) |
 |
Enter the ticker symbol (ex. MSFT for Microsoft) |
 |
Select the time period (ex. 2005) |
FetchXL does the rest, locating and returning
with the exact data you requested.
The FetchXL datasets are among the most
extensive available, providing analysts with instant access to more
than 750 annual and quarterly fundamental data points from over
9,000 U.S. and 3,000 Canadian companies. There's no need to limit
your analysis to recent data because FetchXL provides you with up
to 20 years of financial and market data. For more information on
the FetchXL datasets, click here.
Today's competitive environment has increased
the cost of errors, which is why we make sure the data you receive
is accurate. Each item in the FetchXL dataset goes through an extensive
quality assurance process before it enters the dataset.
FetchXL gives you complete control over
the location and format of retrieved data. You select the cell,
you select the data point, and FetchXL does the rest. Just like
a native Excel function, FetchXL places
data into the selected cell and nowhere else. Once you've created
a FetchXL formula, you can use it just like any other Excel
formula by copying or linking to other cells.
FetchXL is the perfect tool to automate
your analysis process. Once a spreadsheet is created with FetchXL
data, running the same analysis for over 9,000 U.S. and 3,000 Canadian
companies is as simple as entering a new ticker symbol. In addition,
spreadsheets can also be created to automatically use the most recent
data available, eliminating the need to revise spreadsheets after
every quarter.

The FetchXL Formula Builder allows you to
build FetchXL functions using a point-and-click approach. Select
the data point, enter the ticker symbol, and select the period you
wish to retrieve and FetchXL does the rest. In addition, the Formula
Builder can round your data to your desired format.
The FetchXL Screen Builder allows you to
query the FetchXL database for companies meeting specific criteria.
Build and run screens using any of the 750+ datapoints available
from FetchXL. Once your screen is built, export the results directly
into an Excel worksheet. The FetchXL Screen
Manager allows you to access and organize your existing screens
from one convenient location.
Fundamental data is available on both an
"as reported" and restated basis, providing the flexibility
to retrieve data suitable to each situation. "As reported"
data contains data from the company's original filing whereas restated
data includes data that's been restated subsequent to the original
filing.
FetchXL provides the ability to choose between
absolute (fixed) time periods and relative (rolling) time periods.
Absolute time periods represent fixed periods that remain fixed.
Relative time periods retrieve data relative to the current period.
Relative periods allow analysts to automatically use the most recent
data available without the need to re-code dates into the model.
The same 750 data points available for 13,000
companies can also be used to retrieve data on 255 industry groups
and 10 indices. These groups act like virtual companies in the FetchXL
database, each with their own unique ticker symbol. For example,
with FetchXL you can retrieve the operating revenue for the entire
telecommunicaions industry or the S&P 500 index by simply entering
the ticker symbol of either group. These groups provide a convenient
way to look at the aggregate data for all companies in a sector,
industry, segment or index. For a list of groups available as aggregate
data in FetchXL, please click here.
FetchXL gives you the ability to choose the
value of the data you wish to import in terms of actual, thousands,
millions and billions. For larger companies, analysts can select
rounding in millions or billions. For smaller companies, FetchXL
provides the flexibility to select no rounding or rounding in thousands
to provide the detail necessary to compare data.
The FetchXL Template Library provides instant
access to a collection of pre-formatted spreadsheets containing
the FetchXL function codes, simply enter your ticker symbol and
the template is populated with the company's financial information.
